Train movement in some parts of north Bengal and the Northeast was stalled for two hours after fire broke out in a wagon of a goods train near Dalkhola station.
Several passenger trains were halted at different stations. Road traffic along a stretch of NH-34, which connects Calcutta with Siiguri, was also affected as the goods train stopped at level crossing on the highway after catching fire. Over 40 Houses Gutted in Devastating Blaze in India

Over 40 houses were gutted in a devastating fire Wednesday in northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh, police said. The fire broke out in Khasani village of Shimla district, the capital city of Himachal Pradesh.
"Over 40 houses were completely destroyed in a fire which broke out early today in Khasani village in Rohroo subdivision here," a police official posted in Shimla said. "The fire has left 50 families homeless."
According to officials the fire spread quickly and engulfed the locality.
"The houses were mostly built in wood and the fire reduced over 40 of the structures to ashes by the time the fire tenders reached the spot," the police official said.

On Wednesday (18/04/2018) morning a fire was reported at National Golf Links of America.
Firefighters from Southampton, North Sea, Hampton Bays, and other local departments were called to the Tuckahoe property at 11:34 a.m. regarding a fire on the clubhouse roof. A man and a woman were rescued on Wednesday (18/04/2018) from an apartment above the King of Delancey deli on Main Avenue, which was gutted by a four-alarm blaze, fire officials said.

Fire burning at Phoenix recycling facility

Phoenix fire crews were battling a fire at a paper recycling facility Friday afternoon, officials said.
The Phoenix Fire Department said crews responded a little after 1:30 p.m. at the Waste Management Deer Valley Transfer Station at 22nd Avenue and Deer Valley Road.
Phoenix fire Capt. Rob McDade said fires were burning at multiple spots in the facility.
"We had paper products outside the building and we had paper products inside the building that were on fire," McDade said.
McDade said the fires are contained and there's no danger to surrounding.

Mumbai: 150 of 1,500 Industrial Units found Violating Fire Safety Norms

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is on a special inspection drive on Khairani Road, Sakinaka with regards to fire safety compliance in the industrial units. The drive started on April 11 and till now the officers have inspected 1,500 industrial units of which 150 were found violating fire safety norms and are prosecuted.

Kerala Eases Fire Safety Norms

Buildings with 15-metre height and 10,000 sq ft built-up space require no no-objection certificate from the fire and safety authorities anymore. Fire and rescue services director-general Tomin J. Thachankary on Monday said that the government was planning to relax rules to promote the state's development. The government will also introduce 'self-attestation' for fire and safety clearance.
